Memories and Longings
I wonder what I’ll remember of now
When I walk on the streets of gold.
I wonder whether the thoughts of today
Will seem like a dream of old.
The things that loom so large around me now,
What of them then?
Will I look back?
Will I remember the way my life was when?
Will I remember learning to love You
The way I remember my youth?
Dim recollections of seeking Your face
While I’m gazing at You up close?
Come close to me, Jesus, my heaven on earth,
Come close to me, for I can’t wait;
I long for Your breath to brush ‘cross my face
As it will when I enter Your gates.
